全体的にシンプルなデザインなんだけど、個人的に嬉しいなぁと思ったのは広告の下に路線や地図といったよく使う機能がまとめられているところ。最近は、関西のいろんなところに行くもんだから電車の時刻表を調べるのに Yahoo! を使うことが多いから、ありがたいw
Google は同社が運営する動画投稿/共有サイトの YouTube において、来週より 1080p の動画再生に対応するそうです。
従来のHD動画は 720p までの対応でしたが、今回 1080p まで対応します。1080p 対応の要因としてコンシューマー向けのビデオカメラが増えてきているからなんだそうです。ま、どういう理由にせよ映像がさらにキレイになるのは大歓迎です。
We’re excited to say that support for watching 1080p HD videos in full resolution is on its way. Starting next week, YouTube’s HD mode will add support for viewing videos in 720p or 1080p, depending on the resolution of the original source, up from our maximum output of 720p today.
Google が Gmail と Picasa Web Albums で利用できるストレージの追加容量を大幅に値下げしました。
Gmail は、無料でも約7GBと大容量のストレージとなっていますが、それ以上の容量を確保することもできるのです。元々年額20ドル支払えば 10GB の容量を追加できたのですが、今回の値下げで、年にたったの5ドル支払うだけで 20GB も追加できるようになった。
また、9種類の料金メニューが用意され、年額50ドルなら 200GB 、年額4096ドルなら 16TB 追加できるようです。いまのところ 16TB も必要ありませんが、20GB の追加は魅力的だなぁ。

自分の PC などでメールを HDD に保存していてもいいんだけど、バックアップとかを考えれば、Google に預けておいたほうが楽だし安心だし、良いことの方が多いような気がする。Google のほうがメール消失率は低いとかって、どこかで読んだような気がするし( ソース不明 )。
Google の価格を見るたびに Apple の MobileMe って高いよなぁって思う(^^;;
米 Twitter と デジタルガレージ が共同で行っている日本の携帯向け Twitter サービスにおいて、本日、携帯電話から Twitter のユーザ登録、更新、プロフィールの編集などが可能になったそうです。
お待たせしました！10月にベータ版としてオープンした日本の携帯電話向けのTwitter公式サイト（http://twtr.jp）で、新規ユーザーの登録が今日から可能になりました。これまでは新規登録はパソコンサイト（http://twitter.com）でのみ受け付けていましたが、今後は携帯電話からもできます。
でも、登録してるアカウントの削除やメールアドレスの変更などは PC からでしか行えないということなので、携帯電話だけですべてができるというわけではありませんので、お間違いのないように(^^;;;
Twitter は、同社のサービス Twitter 上で、他のユーザのツイートを転載する機能 RT ( Retweet ) を公開、一部のユーザに限定で開始したそうです。動作確認後、一般ユーザへも公開されるそうですので楽しみですね。

Twitter ユーザ間では自然発生的に広まった RT こと Rwtweet は、気になるユーザのツイートの頭に「 RT 」をつけて転載するんだけのことなんだけど、Twitter 専用アプリ ( クライアンツール ) では比較的どのアプリでも RT は利用できるようになっています。
本家が Retweet をサポートしてくれると、Web からの Retweet がしやすくなるということなのでクライアントが使えない環境のときでも便利かなって思います。
Mozilla Foundation は Firefox の次期メジャーバージョンとなる Firefox 3.6 のベータ版 Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 を配布しています。Firefox 3.6 はレンダリングエンジンに Gecko 1.9.2 を搭載し、ワンクリックでブラウザの外観を変更できるペルソナ機能なども搭載しているようです。
ただ、起動時間が高速化されたというような記事をどこかで読んだ覚えがあったのですが、相変わらず起動時間は遅いように感じました。ま、ベータ版ですし、正式版のときには速くなっていることを期待します。

Google と Microsoft は、それぞれの検索サイト Google と Bing で Twitter のつぶやき検索を開始することを発表しました。Microsoft はベータテストをすでに開始していますが、Google は準備中ということで現在のところは検索はできません。
Google にしても Bing にしても検索できると便利ですけど、個人的には Twitter 上での検索でも十分だったりはしますけどね(笑)

米 Twitter は、デジタルガレージと共同で Twitter を携帯電話に対応するサービス、ツイッター・公式ケータイ ( beta ) を始めました。ここ数日、ディザー広告を行っていたのでご存じの方も多いと思います。
携帯電話から使えるってことで絵文字なんかにも対応しているってことなんですけど、PC などで正しく表示されないんじゃ意味ないと思うけど、まぁ、別に否定するようなことでもないかな。
現在、アクセスが集中しているためか非常に重たいんですけど、そのうち安定してくるんだと思います。
